How to Pull a Handle Demonstration

Join Richard Jones from Rainforest Ceramics in Possum Creek for a demonstration on how to pull a handle and fix it to a cup.

Pulling a handle is an intimate, hands-on process where a length of clay is stretched and shaped by the potter’s wet fingers, coaxing it into a graceful arc. The movement is fluid and instinctive, guided by feel and tension, as the clay responds to each gesture. Once shaped, the handle is cut, curved, and attached with care—becoming an extension of the vessel itself, both functional and expressive, echoing the flow of the maker’s touch.
