Edward Frost
Edward Trost is a sculptor whose practice is grounded in material exploration, shaped by ceramic thinking and process. Formally trained in sculpture and with more than 30 years’ experience across the arts and entertainment industries, he combines technical precision with material-led experimentation.
Working across ceramics, metal, and timber, Trost explores surface, trace, and transformation. Clay remains central to his approach, informing his interest in how fire, pressure, and process shape form and meaning across different media.
More recently, he has developed pyrographic “pokerwork” portraiture on timber, burning imagery directly into the surface. These works echo ceramic processes through heat, irreversibility, and tonal variation created through making rather than applied decoration.
Based near Wardell, Trost continues to develop sculptural work focused on fire, surface, transformation, and human resilience.
