JACQUI SOS CERAMICS

Jacqui first came to ceramics over 50 years ago and often laments how her work would look if she had kept it up! But, unfortunately, “life got in the way” and she did not practise pottery for around 45 years. After moving to the Northern Rivers area of NSW she was again “bitten by the pottery bug” and completed a Diploma of Ceramics at TAFE Lismore. Truly bitten, she then went on to complete an Advanced Diploma in Visual Arts majoring in ceramics and set up her own Studio in the large garage which she shares with her Printmaking partner, Sam. The creative couple have had a major exhibition together at the NRCG (Northern Rivers Community Gallery) Ballina, and Jacqui has exhibited in several other local shows. Her work has been short-listed for the Ceramic Arts Queensland Siliceous Award, TACA HELD and the Wa Ikebana Container Award (Melbourne). She specialises in alternative firing techniques such as obvara, raku and saggar. Her work is ever-changing and unique and loves altering her wheel thrown pots to make them unique. Functional tableware, sculpture to quirky teapots and large sculptural vases.
