GUDRUN KLIX

A member of the International Academy of Ceramics, Gudrun Klix has worked in clay for over 40 years. Whilst studying under renowned ceramicist Donald Reitz, she discovered sculpture and installation, and gained an MFA from the University of Wisconsin. After graduating, she was offered the position of Head of Ceramics at the Tasmanian School of Art in Hobart and three years later she became Head of Ceramics at Sydney College of the Arts, where she stayed until her retirement. During her teaching years, Gudrun encouraged students to develop a deep understanding of contemporary art practices as well as a thorough working knowledge of ceramics. Throughout this time, she exhibited widely throughout Australia and internationally including the USA, Canada, New Zealand, Europe, and Asia. She was awarded the Bronze Medal in the 2011 International Ceramics Triennale in Icheon, South Korea as well as awards for her ceramic work in Sydney, Rockhampton and Muswellbrook.

Gudrun has actively participated in conferences, teaching opportunities and residencies both overseas and in Australia. Her work has been published in numerous journals and books.

After retirement she and her husband relocated to Mullumbimby, where they are developing studios in the Koonyum Range.
